Analytics & Business Intelligence
Real-time KPIs, drill-down on Exposure and Movement, cohort analysis by line and geography.
What is the Analytics & Business Intelligence module?
Analytics is the vertical-insurance BI module natively integrated in the platform that turns policy-issuance, claims, reinsurance and BDX data into interactive dashboards for management, risk manager and controller. Primary KPIs: consolidated Exposure (sum insured by customer, sector, geography), Movement (monthly production and YoY), Loss ratio (by line, coverholder, underwriting year), Combined ratio. Drill-down to individual policy with the user's RBAC permissions. Cohort analysis by underwriting year and by coverholder. Manual Excel/PDF/CSV export + scheduled periodic email report. REST API for Power BI, Tableau, Qlik integration if the customer prefers external tools. Difference from typical external data lake: data always-fresh (no overnight ETL), native permissions (no user reconciliation), zero additional BI license cost.
Who decides by the numbers
What the Analytics module does
- Exposure dashboard (consolidated sum insured)
- Movement dashboard (monthly production + YoY)
- Loss ratio by line / coverholder / underwriting year
- Combined ratio and technical margins
- Cohort analysis by underwriting year
- Comparison across coverholders / agencies / geographies
- KPI drill-down → individual policies with native RBAC
- Multi-dimensional filters (date, line, geography, coverholder)
- Manual Excel / PDF / CSV export with applied filters
- Scheduled periodic email reports
- REST API for Power BI, Tableau, Qlik
- Row-level security applied to exports and API too
From raw data to decision-making
Always-fresh data
Every transaction (issuance, claim, BDX) updates the analytical data layer in real-time. Typical latency: < 60 seconds. No overnight ETL.
Role-configured dashboards
Risk manager sees exposure, controller sees loss ratio, network manager sees coverholder ranking. Filters saved as \"views\".
Interactive exploration
Click on KPI → drill-down into constituent dimensions. Dynamic filters. Time zoom (week, month, quarter, year). Period comparison.
Anomaly identification
Configured alerts (e.g. coverholder loss ratio > 85% for 2 consecutive months). Push + email notification. Review workflow.
Export & sharing
Excel/PDF snapshot with active filters. Attached to board presentations. Monthly scheduled management report.
External integration
For customers with corporate BI tool: REST API query of KPIs as dataset, reconciliation with third-party systems.
Technical stack
Impact on business decisions
Frequently asked questions about Analytics & BI
What do Exposure and Movement dashboards measure?
The Exposure dashboard shows total guaranteed capital (sum insured) consolidated by customer, sector, geography, delegating insurer, line. It's the key risk-manager KPI: uncontrolled exposure growth may require facultative reinsurance or underwriting suspension. The Movement dashboard shows production (issued premium, new policies, renewals, cancellations) month-over-month with YoY comparison and new-customer identification.
What is loss ratio and how is it computed?
Loss ratio is the ratio of paid + reserved claims to earned premium in the period. Example: 18.4% = for every 100 € of collected premium, 18.40 € is absorbed by claims. It's the primary technical-profitability KPI: < 60% good, 60-80% medium, > 80% requires tariff review. The module computes it per line, per coverholder, per line of business, and shows 12/24-month evolution.
Can I drill down from aggregated data to individual policies?
Yes. Every KPI is clickable down to the atomic level. Example: dashboard shows "AGEA surety exposure Q2 2026: 12.5M €" → click → list of 47 AGEA policies in the quarter with details (principal, amount, expiry, loss history) → click on single policy → complete record in back-office. All with same RBAC permissions as the back-office module (no extra privileges).
Is cohort analysis available?
Yes. Cohort analysis on two standard dimensions: (1) by underwriting year: how does the 2025 cohort behave vs 2024 in terms of cumulative loss ratio; (2) by coverholder/agency: technical-performance comparison between producers. Useful to identify coverholders with anomalous loss ratios or underwriting years requiring tariff review.
How does row-level security work?
Every user sees only data they have permission for in the back-office. Example: a broker sees only their own policies in Movement KPIs, not other brokers' in the same network. A coverholder sees their sub-network consolidated but not other coverholders mandated by the same insurer. The delegating insurer sees everything. Granular configuration via RBAC roles.
Can I export data for external analysis?
Yes. Three options: (1) Manual Excel/PDF/CSV export from dashboards, with active filters applied. (2) Scheduled report: dashboards configured to be sent via email to recipients periodically (weekly, monthly, quarterly) — useful for management. (3) REST API for integration with external BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Qlik) — the module exposes KPIs as queryable datasets with the same RBAC security.
